For organisations which provide information, advice and support to people sharing a specific protected characteristic the following websites and voluntary sector organisations may be of interest:


  • The Age UK Group works to improve later life for everyone by providing life-enhancing services and vital support
  • UK Youth is a charity at the heart of a national network of organisations dedicated to supporting young people to realise their potential


  • Radar is the UK’s largest disability rights campaigning network, with a membership of 800 organisations and individual campaigners. They are a pan-disability organisation led by people with lived experience of disability or health conditions.
  • Mind are currently working in partnership with Rethink Mental Illness on a national mental health awareness campaign called Time to Change
  • Megan is a qualified Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) instructor.  Follow the link for more information about MHFA England.


  • Stonewall is a campaigning and lobbying organisaiton which works to achieve equality and justice for lesbians, gay men and bisexual people
  • For guidance to service providers and employers on transgender equality issues and good practice in Scotland and to support transgender people in understanding and accessing their human rights visit the Scottish Transgender Alliance


  • Engender works to make Scotland a fairer,  safer place where women can flourish and contribute to both the social and market economies with dignity, freedom and justice
  • Fawcett Society  is the UK’s leading campaign for equality between women and men


  • The Race Equality Foundation promotes race equality in social support (what families and friends do for each other) and public services (what ‘workers’ do with people who need support)
  • The Internet Centre Anti Racism Europe (ICARE) is the information disseminator for the European NGO-community working in the fields of anti-discrimination, Human Rights, antisemitism, diversity and migration, with a focus on anti-racism.


  • The Inter Fairth Network for the UK was founded in 1987 to promote good relations between people of different faiths in this country
