Equalities Monitoring

This ½ day course can be delivered in-house for your organisation or sold as a package for you to deliver yourselves.

There are increasing requirements on public sector and third sector organisations to monitor their workforce and who their service-users. The staff who are collecting the data can be uncomfortable in asking questions that are considered to be personal or irrelevant.

This course and the accompanying guide notes are designed for those who are required to ask questions on the demographic characteristics of service users.

It will cover:

  • Why do we collect data – and what happens to it afterwards?
  • The benefits to an organisation of gathering and analysing data
  • What does the legislation require?
  • Rehearsing ways of phrasing the questions and dealing with some potentially negative responses
  • Responding appropriately to questions about confidentiality and the people’s rights to disclose or not disclose information
